Why Ukrainian girls shine
ID: 130Myths about online dating, the whole truth and everything you need to forget
Online dating has long ceased to be something unusual. According to various studies in recent years, between 38 and 49% of new couples in large cities and highly digitalized countries meet through online dating services. Many people use relationship websites and find love online in this way. And yet, there are still countless myths surrounding this topic, ranging from the harmless to the downright harmful.
Myth 1 "Online dating is for people who can't meet people in real life."
Reality By 2026, it has already become the primary way for people of all ages to meet in most large cities and countries. Many simply don’t have the time or opportunity to regularly visit places where they can meet people organically. Work, home, hobby clubs once or twice a week - and that’s it. online dating services have become the most effective "delivery channel" for meeting new people, especially when you want to find love online without the hassle.
Myth 2 There’s nothing serious about online dating, and that’s a big misconception.
Reality 42–48% of users explicitly indicate they’re looking for a long-term relationship. Another 20–25% write "we’ll see what happens" (i.e., they’re open to something serious). It turns out that almost two-thirds of people aren’t opposed to - and even want - something serious on relationship websites.
Myth 3 "Online dating is all about looks."
Reality Yes, looks do matter, but only at the beginning. For the first 3–8 seconds, yes. But if we’re talking about relationships longer than 3 months, looks fall to 3rd–5th place. The top ranking factors are:
- Communication style
- Humor
- Values
- Emotional security
- A match in lifestyle and desires
That’s why relationship websites (and especially top online dating sites) show the best results for serious relationships.
Myth 4 "After 35, there’s nothing to be gained from online dating."
Reality Quite the opposite. The highest percentage of conversions from acquaintance to long-term relationships and marriage now occurs among older people. They already understand what they want, play fewer games, and make decisions more quickly - especially on top online dating sites for mature audiences and international dating sites.
Brief practical conclusion Online dating in 2026 is no longer an "alternative" - it’s simply one of the main tools for finding a partner.

Here’s my little list of why I think we’re special: We are natural caretakers: Whether it’s making sur...Read more

Why do you sometimes want to tell a stranger more than someone you know?

You start a conversation with someone you don't know at all, and suddenly you find yourself sharing your thoughts a little more openly than with those you've been with for years. There's a certain ease to it. No expectations, no past, just two people having a real conversation. I've noticed on online dating services: when there are n...Read more -
